[인터넷유머영어] 의용소방대는 용감했다

언제나 뉴스에서 접하게 되지만

119소방대원의 목숨 건 노고는 필설로 다 표현할 수가 없지요.

그분들의 노력 덕분으로 오늘도 우리에게

평안한 하루가 계속되는지도 몰라요~~ ^^

One dark night， a fire started inside the local chemical plant． 

After fighting the fire over an hour， the company president approached the fire chief and said， "All of our secret formulas are in the vault in the center of the plant． They must be saved！ I’ll give $50，000 if you bring them out safely．"

As the chief ordered the firemen to strengthen their attack on the blaze， another fire truck came into sight． 

It was a local volunteer fire company composed entirely of men over 65．

To everyone‘s amazement the little fire engine raced through the plant gates and drove straight into the middle of the blaze． 

In the distance the other firemen watched as the old timers began to fight the fire desperately． 

After an intensive fighting the volunteer team had extinguished the fire and saved the secret formulas． 

Joyous， the president announced that he would double the reward to $100，000． 

Thanking the old men he asked them what they intended to do with the reward money． 

The fire truck driver said，"The first thing we‘re going to do is fix the damn brakes on that truck！"

한 밤에 화학공장에서 화재가 발생했다． 

진화작업이 한 시간쯤 진행되고 있을 때 그 회사 사장이 소방대장에게 다가가서는 말했다． 

"회사의 비밀문서가 전부 다 중앙 금고 안에 들어있습니다． 

그건 반드시 꺼내야 합니다． 

안전하게 회수해주면 5만달러를 드릴께요．" 

그 말을 들은 소방대장이 진화작업에 더욱 박차를 가하라고 대원들을 독려하고 있는데 

소방차 또 한 대가 나타났다． 

그건 전원 65세 이상의 노인들로 구성된 의용소방대였다． 

작은 소방차는 공장 문 쪽으로 질주해 들어오더니 그대로 화염 속으로 돌진하여 주변 사람들을 깜짝 놀라게 했다．

 

먼저 온 소방대원들이 먼발치에서 바라보는 가운데 노인들은 필사적인 진화작업을 펼쳤으며, 드디어 진화에 성공하여 회사의 중요한 비밀문서를 회수하게 되었다． 

회사 사장은 무척 감동하여 상금을 곱절로 올려 10만달러를 노인 소방대원들에게 지불했다． 

사장이 감사를 표하며 그 돈을 어디에 쓸 거냐고 노인들에게 물었더니 의용 소방차를 운전해온 노인이 대답했다． 

"우선 요놈의 브레이크부터 고쳐야겠어요！"

(ㅋㅋㅋ..
